Going to the Dyke was a bit of a trip down memory lane: I used to play pool here and swig snakebite before I was legally allowed to. The group behind the Connaught and Stoneham in Hove have done such a fabulous job of rennovating this hellhole.
They are getting busy, but if you hadn’t had it recommended to you there’s a chance you’d pass this place by, which is a shame. Its not a great looking location, opposite a a tesco garage at the traffic lights, but inside is a different story and you could quite happily sink in for a long session.
The wine list is brilliant. I was genuniely excited when I got hold of it. Its supplied by Bibendum, who provide a lot of restaurants nationwide, but someone here has really had fun with and thought about the wines at their disposal.
I’ve picked three Italians off the list as its a Tuscan themed menu, and one other which I feel is worthy of note.
The staff were great and really interested and excited by the list too which is a great sign.
Highly recommended.
