Glynde Wine

By in Festivals, Tasting

I was on the organising committee of the Glynde Food and Drink Festival behind the South Downs next to Glyndebourne (where they belt out the opera). It’s a lovely part of the world and within a sprint of The Ram in Firle and the Jolly Sportsman in East Chiltington – both highly recommended.

I’ve picked three autumn whites from my stand at the festival: one from Plumpton Wine College in Sussex based on my trip by tandem bike taking their wines to the French and Italians (more of that on another show).

A Fiano from Sicily – a grape that’s all the rage at the moment (we saw it in our video at The Dyke). This one best value Italian white at the International Wine Challenge.

And finally a white Borsao from Campa de Borja.

If you’re off for a roast chicken at a friends, I urge you to try seek out Fiano if you haven’t done so yet: don’t be dull and reach for the Jacob’s Creek, this grape is a crowd pleaser.
