The Old Bank restaurant

By in Restaurants

I’m one of the half dozen or so local wine providers to The Old Bank, a new restaurant in Brighton’s Kemp Town on a site that’s seen a few incarnations over recent years.

They let us come down on the opening day and were about half-full at 4pm on a Saturday which is good going. As you’ll hear, it was mainly families at that time.

The wine list will grow, but to have a steak and ribs house with Pol Roger champagne on the menu shows some ambition, and I’ve picked that and two others as the pick of the launch wine list. And no, I haven’t simply picked the wines I provide!

We didn’t have time to eat there, but all looked happy, and the Maitre ‘D is Jonathan from English’s and he knows what he’s up to. In fact we asked him as many questions as we could in 30sec and he seems cool under fire.

If you have been, let us know what the food and service was like.
