Wines for Halloween

By in Tasting, The Butler Wine-Show

I’m always looking for an excuse to dress up as a conquistador and Halloween is ideal.

Its a good fun couple of weeks ahead with Bonfire Night hot on the heels of Halloween. I’m doing my own Trick or Treat and offering 15% off the wines I mention in this programme if you buy in the shop or online before November 5th.

Its a time of big foods – casseroles, sausages, jacket spuds, pumpkin and chilli – so some big reds go with it.

First two from the wonderfully inventive Some Young Punks who have by far the most intriguing labels in the shop – do look at their website, unlike anything other in the wine world.

Then two grape varieties to look for at this time of year – Shiraz, which can be subtle rather than the cheaper versions that taste of bonfires, and Grenache – and I’ve got two great examples of these in the programme.

Don’t forget the 15% off bargain, so you can go Boo! not Boohoo!

And if you don’t know who Ted The Count Hankey is, I’m adding 15% on your wine!
