Tonks, Hix and Henry (go to Portugal for beef, octopus and wine)

By in Restaurants, The Butler Wine-Show

As part of our Portugal week I went on a fact finding mission to Portugal’s Douro Valley. Its stunning – great for a long weekend and some of the vineyards there have really pulled their socks up for the whole wine tourist experience; not least Quinta de la Rosa.

It was here that I was entertained alongside struggling chefs Mitch Tonks and Mark Hix. As well as across London, Hix has the fabulous Fish and Oyster House over Lyme Regis Bay, and Tonks a number of West Country venues from Bristol to Dartmouth.

They share a house wine, labelled by Tracy Emin as Tonnix, but sold over our counter as Quinta de la Rosa. Its a really interesting wine to sell as house and I think shows how much these two know about matching wine with food.

Anyway, here’s me explaining what I like about it, name-dropping about the lunch my new chef friends cooked me, and getting my own back on Cameraman with some shots of him filling his face (and more by the look of it!)
