Welcome to Portugal (wine) week

By in The Butler Wine-Show

All week, starting this weekend, we’ll be putting up programmes that showcase a wine producing country that I love, Portugal, with a particular focus on the Douro Valley. A beautiful place that’s great for a long weekend with a wine glass in your hand.

You’ll hear about my exploits with chefs Mark Hix and Mitch Tonks at Quinta de la Rosa.

You’ll get to pick up all the tips from a large wine-tasting but without having to endure Hanover Community Hall.

I’ll take you through Vinho Verde – focusing on the gently fizzing, light white that could bring back the idea of a drink at a working lunchtime.

There’s the reds and whites of the Douro Valley that can go head to head with the best wines of Spain.

And Port itself. Ruby, Tawny, Reserve…what does it all mean, and which will give you a headache.

And throughout you get to see me being professional, but the cameraman using all the bits where I mess up.

Um, dois, tres: let’s bring the sunshine in.
